Commissions

A unique artwork made specially for you.

Would you like an original, one-of-a-kind painting that is specifically for you and the space you are looking to fill?

I could paint you a commissioned portrait of a loved one, a favourite landscape, your horse, a building, a favourite chair, or whatever you want.

Reference photos are used and the final piece is not intended to be a photographic reproduction. It’s a moment in time, a likeness captured in paint.

About the artist

Hi! I’m Caroline Cattermull. Welcome to my website!

Painting is my passion, and from my home studio, I create work that celebrates colour, movement and imagination. Working primarily in acrylic, I build playful, distinctive palettes that make each piece vibrate with energy and intrigue. I’m fascinated by the illusion of movement—both real and mystical—and use it to weave stories across the surface of the canvas.

My paintings aim to capture the essence of a moment, rather than its literal form: the spark in an eye, the quiet pause of a landscape or the suspended presence of an animal. The breath held between one heartbeat and the next. Layers of paint, combined with immediate, confident brushstrokes, bring these moments to life. Recently, my long‑held attention to detail has begun to soften into a freer, more intuitive way of working, opening new directions in my practice.

Inspired by travel, nature, light, and colour, I strive to create paintings that invite the viewer to look twice—to feel transported. After nearly twenty years living abroad, the colours and cultures of the world have left a lasting imprint. Now, back in England, the soft light, sweeping hills, and coastal edges of Devon are inspiring a fresh chapter—one that feels both rooted and full of possibility.
