She’s so colourful, yet so vulnerable. Beautiful but breakable. To be fair, she tells her own story, through her eyes. It’s so easy to forget the scars that become engrained in a child’s mind. Their innocence is ours to protect, as best we can, from the atrocities of the world. That’s what this picture is about for me but, for the viewer, it may well conjure up happier thoughts – she is beautiful!

Technique: A bright, abstract palette and I love the aquamarine blue, it really makes her face pop. Keeping the background simple, using one colour plus white, creates a frame for the portrait. It works well.
