Solomon is often portrayed as wise and powerful. In the New Testament, he is portrayed as a teacher of wisdom, in the Quran he is considered to be a major prophet. In mostly non-biblical circles, Solomon also came to be known as a magician and an exorcist. And so we have the owl, modern Western cultures generally associate owls with wisdom and vigilance.
