One of the most beautiful places I’ve visited is the Sahara desert in Southern Libya. The Tuareg people were traditionally nomadic people but Abdulrahman was one of our guides. He spoke no English but managed to brew us delicious tea, make sure we were comfortable, navigate through a seemingly unpunctuated landscape and make the whole adventure immensely fun and incredibly interesting. Culturally, he was incredibly different and because of his lifestyle, tough and raw. I have to admit I was a bit scared of him.

This was painted using the colour values technique that I’ve come to love so much. It’s natural to gravitate towards more realistic colours, especially with skin tones. However, this way of working is unique and effective, I think it’ll be with me forever!
